A poem about thought, time, and memory.
It seems to me like shorter years
Since I thought about love
Or reflected on the world of words
Contained within me.
A lifetime passes without motion
In the wink of an eye,
In the flash of a day,
And only my mind can recall it all.
No stories have I told,
And no poems have I written.
No one can read my thoughts.
They’ve been hidden too long.
The phases finally finish,
And I start anew,
In a fresh lifestyle emerging,
Slick with the slime of experience.
Memories collect, looking ahead
Only to see a random reflection
Of the future faces finally freed
Floating in recollection.
Tackling the new task before me,
I feel challenged and conquered.
The days will melt memory’s years
Into the flashbacks of the mind.
Thought will sweep centuries away
Reviewing the lifespan of man.
Each action is recorded in nature.
Each motion is captured in time.
