Autumn, leaves, lost love, gone away, the missing.

There is always a song that stays with us through the years and brings back the feelings of that time so long ago. We wish we could remember the song but it alludes us like the green light on the end of daisey’s dock at summer’s end. Finally, it comes and haunts us and we are back then and wish we weren’t.

The falling leaves drift by my window;

the autumn leaves of red and gold.

Since you went away

the days grow long…

Soon I’ll hear them sing old winter’s song.

But, I miss you most of all,

my darling.

When autumn leaves start to fall.

The autumn leaves float by our garden;

the autumn leaves so burnished brown.

The nights are chilly, my bed is empty;

no sleep, no rest since you are gone.

The days grow shorter and nights are longer;

since you left me all alone.

But, I miss you most of all,

my darling.

When autumn leaves start to fall.
