Women love it when men can play the fool without loosing their confidence.
Ladies inquiring minds want to know,
Luther or an untalented soul?
Before you decide between legend or wanna be,
let me explain the day I sang for my lady.
I did not have range, tone or the right inflection,
but what I lacked I compensated for in mood.
Sure, Luther has this too but at least hear me out!
The lights were dim and I held her close
like Sammy holds his microphone.
I apprehensively cleared my throat,
not knowing what key I should sing.
As I started to croon the disbelief showed in her eyes.
She could not believe I stepped out to play the fool.
Her sympathy gave me courage
that the song would be appreciated at least by one.
I kept my tone low just above a whisper.
When I forgot the words I adlibbed
shoobie doobie doo.
No one laughed they were all in awe.
Luther loved music like I loved her.
She was so enamored her man had dared to sing,
maybe not like the legend, but in my dreams or so it
would seem.
Later that night she asked for an encore,
Ladies, need I sing more?
