A poem about observation and reality checks in the game of love…

I check my heart at the door
before I exit this place,
for I find myself brand new
in this unfamiliar space.
He’s the one I want to know,
but he calls only her name,
and she looks the other way,
for this is the singles’ game.
And then there’s him, who wants me,
but I long for the one above,
who waits for her text reply,
while she is busy in love!
The losses outnumber wins,
and everyone is left alone,
not seeing what they gave up,
while just waiting by the phone.
I can’t know what lies ahead
in this human nature bowl,
so I keep my eyes open
to focus on sured goal.
This new game may play me some,
but I will learn from certain err,
that my emotions will adapt,
even when I don’t think it’s fair.
I have faith that there’s a match,
when two burdened hearts collide,
compelled to not look away,
but to see what lies inside.
