Poem about divorce.

                               Sleek Black Pony

                                     l

  Sleek black pony

  never had a name

  the kids just rode him

  holding to his mane

  Sleek black pony

  couldn’t ask them why

  if days were sunny

or if rain fell from the sky

  Sleek black pony

  ridden in the day

  fed in the evening

  from a bale of hay

  Sleek black pony

  sensed something was wrong

  gone was their laughter

he knew to be their song

  Sleek black pony

  couldn’t understand

why kids go with their mama

when a woman leaves her man

Now that’s touching, from one who can definitely relate.

    Hi Joe,
Thanks bunches for coming to read this, kind of a different angle describing divorce but people like us can relate. I have added my horse and I to my profile page and would like to add us to your friends, soon as I can figure out how to! I do have a cd (song) called Mama’s Gone-if you get the chance to listen to it!

    Best regards,

    Mo

Thank you for reading this Lilyrose, I truly appreciate your leaving a comment. I love your picture also, think it’s neat! Let me know where your writings are or give me a few titles so I can go read and leave comments! This poem was set to music also and has a haunting kind of sound in minor key going to major on the chorus. It was written on a blustery, cool fall day as I looked out the window and saw the kid’s pony that I knew we had to leave behind when I got a divorce-talk about the gut wrenching days of yesteryear! Divorce, when you have children is a terrible thing.
