Dark Suffering.
All is quiet on this night so sacred and neat.
God, oh God, help me
sleep.
It’s been 25 years
since the night she left.
Though the memory of
that night, in my soul, still kept.
I can’t sleep as
loved ones do.
I have to stay awake
to prevent a fate they may be due.
God, oh, God help me
get some rest.
It’s been 25 years,
haven’t I passed all your tests.
All still breathing
soundly in their beds.
Devil’s kiss of death
fills my head.
One more routine
night patrol.
Devil once again
collects his nightly toll.
I pay him with fear
and doubt.
From his grip Lord,
show me the way out.
Sing me to sleep Lord
of Lords.
Fill my soul with
your lullaby chord
