Be careful not to open the small black box.

Small Black Box
29 mar 09

On the dresser in a small black box
Is where grandma said she kept a pet itch
She warned us never never touch that box
But we didn’t believe she really had an itch

So curious we were of that small black box
So we snuck and spied on her late one night
There she sat took it out and opened the box
Softly singing to it by candlelight

Once a bad boy tried to steal grandma’s pie
He snuck through the bushes and took it from window sill
But grandma was in the kitchen and saw hands grab that pie
She just went and put the open black box on the window sill

Then sat back and sang the soft little song
We wondered what she thought she was doing
Then knock knock at the door the boy crying he was wrong
Wide eyed we wondered she might know what she was doing

Now many years have passed and gone
And on my dresser sits that small black box
Now I warn my grandchildren in a polite tone
That I have a pet itch in that small black box

Boxes intrigue me. I always need to know what’s in them. :)

I can see that a pet itch could be rather useful. I would love to take one to work.
