Bill and Pete are having a pint in their local “The Red Lion”

Discussing the dwindling pensions they rely on.

“I think I will just have a couple of pints today

I have got things to do after in the house”

“Me too Pete or Doreen will have something to say

It’s impossible to drink and be as quiet as a mouse”

************

“Pint of the usual Bill or fancy a Real Ale for a change,

I’m having a pint of the Pale Rider how about you?”

“Why not Pete, let me see there’s quite a large range

I’ll have the Craven Silk; that looks a good brew.”

************

They sit at the nearest table to the bar alone,

sign of the times talking in a lower tone.

************

“Cheers Bill, it’s quite empty for a lunch time session,

I suppose it’s because not many have much cash.”

“Yes the Government is devaluing most of our Pension.

With their handling of the economy they have made a hash”

************

“Well I’m too old now at eighty plus to find a job,

And soon I won’t be able to afford a half let alone a tonic.”

“Never Pete, think of our MP in his Jag as a slob,

with his expenses fraud  he will get a spell in the nick.”

************

“But that won’t solve our Pension difficulty Bill,

We have to fasten our belts and budget like mad.”

“Ok Pete we have work our finances out at will,

Work them out on paper then it might not look as bad.”

************

“Shall we start making our own home Brew

and maybe bread that will save us a few quid.”

“Good idea Pete, I still have my kit how about you?”

“I left it too long it fermented and blew off the lid.”

************

The two old men returned to Bill’s home to their wives

Who looked at them with anger as they had spent some Pension,

For they discussed the same topic and about their lives,

The room turned blue and the language was too rude to mention.

************
