“Hello Pete its me Bill, has your Mavis told you,”

“Is that about the theatre Pete, yes she has.”

“Doreen has booked us good seats and view,”

“Thanks for that the last one gave me a saw  ….”

“Who are on the phone to?” Doreen called out,

“Its only Pete, Sorry Mate just to say we are coming.”

“Bill, put your tie right, you look like an old drop-out,”

Mavis said to Bill, then he turned and started humming.”

“Why are you humming that tune?” Doreen was annoyed,

“Its one of those that appear to stay in my mind all day.”

Bill answered politely knowing any conflict he must avoid,

For she will give him hell, if she doesn’t get her way.

Meanwhile in the house of Pete and Mavis Smith,

“Come on Peter.” She nags him on to the door.

But like Bill, Pete does anything to avoid a tiff,

or he will get his nose rubbed into the floor.

The two couples meet outside the theatre,

Mavis and Doreen walk on chatting ahead.

towards the box office they are now sweeter,

While Pete and Bill prefer the pub instead.
