“Are you ready yet Pete?” Bill asked impatiently.
“He’ll be ready in a minute Biil.” Doreen said.
“Yes I’ll be with you in a minute” Pete added contently,
For he overslept and just got out of bed.

“We had better get a move on or the shop will close,”
“OK! OK! Don’t panic Bill, just one shoe to put on.”
“We will have time for a pint at the Crown I suppose.”
“Of course we will Bill, cheerio Doreen See you anon.”

“She’s a good one Pete, your Doreen,”
“Yes I always loved her and no other one.”
“What about Lil from across the Green?”
“That was years ago in the hot summer’s sun.”

“Yes but that was admiring another was it not?”
“That was different Doreen and I weren’t wed.”
“But Pete that was the same, and means a lot.”
“OK Bill, what about the ones you had in your bed?”

“Ah, but I didn’t say I had been faithfull all these years,
I liked lying in the long grass with some lass by my side.”
“Well If Mavis Could hear you she’d have burning ears.”
“Pete, I must tell the grass is greener on the other side.”

“Shall we go and have a pint Bill?”
“Why not Pete, Mavis has gone out.”
” I saw her at the bus stop with Jill.”
“Oh here’s Doreen with Lil, watch out!”
