A poem about the fake smiles which are put on.

When you see me

I laugh, I joke, I smile.

When I’m alone

I break down, I cry, I cut.

With the smile that I put on,

You all assume I’m fine.

No idea about the truth.

No clue that I’m not happy.

I look focused,

My mind is wandering.

I say I’m just tired,

Yet another lie.

With my fake smile

I conceal all that is real.

My thoughts, my feelings,

And my mood.

I hope that one day I will not need to hide.

Until then, I shall smile and wish to die.
