What are those things that bring a smile to your face. This poem explores just a few in my own life.

My Cowboy’s goofy grin,

My teenage girl snuggling up close

   to me,

My “little man” hugging so tight

   I can hardly breathe,

Sunshine after the rain

  mixing to make brilliant rainbows,

Tree frogs in a summer’s night air,

Singing in harmony,

Worshipful hands raised in the air,

Holding my first-born

  in the early morning dark,

Holding my only son

 close to my heart,

Hearing the sound of silence

  after a rough night fought,

Making love

 without a second thought,

A smile from a friend,

A wave from the same,

A kiss, long and sweet,

A hug, no strings attached,

  A tired heart’s retreat….

These are the thoughts

that make me smile

knowing it’s in the seemingly mundane moments

  of life

where true treasures are found.

Lovely, very lovely. I really enjoyed this poem and it is so true…and the list goes on. We are truly so blessed when we stop and think about it and appreciate the little things that touch us.

    Truly wonderful

Oh, yes, A Bromley, the list could go on and on, but I choose not to bore my readers with all the details. It only works to get them thinking about what they could add to their own lists.

Vinaya, I just love how you point out the lines that you enjoy. It lets me know where I’m on the right track in my writing. It’s only worth publishing if I touch someone’s heart who reads it.
