Recollections of crossing the Pennines in rather atrocious weather …

Skies frowned dark and angry

As I crossed Snake Pass today

Pennine route foreboding

Fierce headwind all the way

Rain incessant pummelled screen

Wiper sound numbed brain

Flooded roads, as gullies

Vainly fought to take the strain

Destination reached, more than hour late

Body asked for beverage, nerves in frazzled state

Friends so understanding as we chatted and we dined

Caffeine fix, nerves unwound, trauma left behind

Given the number of times you have travelled it?….. ,I suppose it was going to happen one day! a very good poem though. I love it xxx

Wow I can imagine, I would have had my nerves shattered. A great description, brought it to life.
