Poem.

Here in a cabin, high on a hill, covered just this morning with winters first snow,
The wind stirs, a distant lone owl the only sounds in the darkness,
The fireplace light covers the walls, in an orange and red glow,

Logs of hickory crackle, causes the embers to spark and dance,
Bathed in the warmth, a place to rest the mind I have found,
To refresh ones spirit and find rest for the body, a rare chance,

Sleep has crept quietly and unnoticed upon me, I’m now in the land of hopes of man,
Here figments of the imagination, our hopes, our fears find life,
Times awakened embraced by fear or holding an Angels hand,

Blessed sleep came tonight, Angelic beauty did I dream of,
She couldn’t be of this mortal world, so lovely and fair,
Such beauty can only be found in Heaven above,

Oh how the morning sun danced softly in her hair,
Drawing closer with each step, her features becoming more clear,
Surely i stand in the presence of an Angel, unable to speak, only stare,

With a smile, she weakened my knees and took my breath away,
Dawns first light no brighter, springtime honeysuckle no sweeter,
Her smile warmed my spirit, giving comfort to last for forever and a day,

Held in her eyes, the sparkle of the stars in a desert midnight sky,
In soft depths, any man could find himself, eternally lost,
What had I done, to be blessed with her beauty, I know not why,

Blue skies returned to my world, only a memory, the lifetime of gray,
At hand again was fates cruelness, slumber about to leave,
With “Don’t go” upon my lips as I awoke, Let this dream come to be I pray,

Watching the fires flames flicker at the darkness, Wondering Heavens will.
Remembering her beauty, trying to memorize her face,
Bright now the morn covered in winter white, Each though of her still,

Years have passed since that night long ago, Her face still alive and new,
Her loveliness I ‘oft recall, Again in sleep she has returned not,
Will my prayers be answered, Her will see again, fate left no clue,

Today the prayers were answered, a dream came true, The Angel did I see,
Taken again was my breath, my knees gave way, Like that night we first met,
Over the journey that seemed endless now, Her smile, setting my spirit free,

If you ever feel alone, to smile you have no reason, cause or thrill,
Remember this, a memory for you to ponder,
The Angel of my dream so long ago, was you, in that cabin on a snow covered hill.
