ice cold rain

here it comes
at the beginning of May

a snow storm
at least 3 inches possible here
more to the north

time to get winter clothes out
when the calender says it’s spring
almost summer even

but
I guess
the calender isn’t always right
the meteorologists aren’t either

the weather is like some choices
a few are made from the gut
while others are a guessing game of sorts

no matter if the snow actually comes
or if it just stays an ice cold rain
right now I feel frozen
wanting gloves on
and a blanket
to warm myself up

maybe
it’s even time for bed
to crawl beneath the covers
hoping to warm up
and fall asleep

so goodnight
as I wish for no snow
when I open my eyes
slowly tomorrow morning
