Poem I wrote September 25, 2009 based off of a dream I had the previous night.

I dream at night nightmares plenty
Sometimes numbers up near twenty
I’m used to the blood, guts, and gore
But I’ve never had one like last night’s before

I dreamt of foxes, hawks and cats
I dreamt, last night, of snow leopards in my lap
I dreamt of iron bars and candle light
I dreamt a sweet dream for once last night

I dream often of dark corridors
Old broken houses and creaking doors
I’m used to creepy, scary, and mean
But never have I been able to match last night’s dream

I dreamt of foxes, hawks, and cats
I dreamt, last night, of snow leopards in my lap
I dreamt of iron bars and candle light
I dreamt a sweet dream for once last night

I dream at night nightmares plenty
Sometimes numbers up near twenty
I’m used to twisted, weird, demented
But my mind has last night’s dream cemented

I dreamt of foxes hawks and cats
I dreamt in colors I’ve never seen
I dreamt of iron bars and candle light
I dreamt of snow leopards in my lap last night
