Love whispered across the warm desert wind…
Image via Wikipedia
Your face I will always know,
Floodlit through a smoke-filled room,
So many sunsets ago.
The desert was a blanket
Of intoxicating warmth
From the moment we first met.
We shared so much through the night,
A touching of poetic souls,
Kissing by the morning light.
Love poured out in tidal flow,
And our hearts were swept away,
So many sunrises ago.
Direction became misplaced,
And obstacles frozen in pane,
As tear-stained windows closed in haste.
Our course ended way too soon,
Like unfinished love letters,
Or lyrics of unsung tune.
In my heart I kept each hue,
To color our unpainted love,
And remind myself of you.
Now iridescent walls
Ensure my memory’s rhythm
As the desert sun rises and falls.
