Poem about the effect of society on man.
The threads of what once was
Lie tattered in our memories
Childhood dreams now unremembered
That filled us with delight.
Wisdom comes at a terrible price
Life’s stranglehold on our desires
Social pressures to conform
To integrate with the norm.
The freedom of our early years
Is blown upon compliance winds
Made to fit the hallowed mould
Of society’s bland uniformity.
