We send our men to fight out into the bloody night

To defend our lands our freedom our hope our right

They stand their ground against all odds

They do not waver when forced to fight 

They do not run when they are going to die

The thoughts that keep them going that keep them fighting on

The thoughts that drive them home

Are not of death or glory or the best kill

Not of becoming the greatest soldier or the most couragious 

The thoughts that drive them home

Are the family they have back their 

The ones they’d gladly walk to Rome for 

It is not the thought of fight or the sword in the night 

That makes our men and women fight

It is to protect those they love so right

Those they love who are worth dying for 

Because it makes the trip home all the better

Knowing their loved ones are safe forever
