A young man asks for advice in solving an age old math equation.
My friend Billy Bort, was having trouble of the sort,
solving a mathematical equation.
Then he came to me, and sat down on my knee,
asking for insightful evaluation
“With nine as the numerator, and three as the denominator,
leaves with a remainder of how many?”
“It’s easier my son, when you have to find the sum,
to use a good old copper penny.
Take the coin that’s round, and place it on the ground,
then slice it into several equal parts,
Use some imaginary vision, to aid in your division,
this is where the fun really starts.”
But Billy brought forth a number, more difficult to asunder,
twenty-two divided by seven
“It’s an age old math equation, that requires contemplation,
understand the answer won’t be even,
The Greeks gave it a name, and the question just the same,
how does one solve the problem pi?
I slice it into sorts, and eat it with a fork,”
I told him with the wink of an eye.
