As I sit alone in the long midnight hours,
I watch you sign in on yahoo messenger.
You sign in and out as I type my article,
yet I make no move to send you a message.
****
There was a time that we would talk constantly,
spend hour after hour the keyboard was flying.
We talked about everything we liked plus some,
heavy flirting and erotic moments was present to.
****
Though there were several miles between us,
the keyboard would get hot with our wording.
I may not have been able to physically reach you,
but your heated words went straight to my heart.
****
We talked about what we wanted to do and why,
planning a future wedding if everything was right.
A life together that would see us to the very end,
never again would we grow old alone or unloved.
****
But circumstances and karma had their way,
they decided it was not to be for me and you .
No walking down the aisle in my wedding gown,
my dreams for being your wife is now shut down.
****
Now we so very seldom talk and that hurts me,
it aches to see you sign in and out of the internet.
You and I now walk a totally different path lately,
we have both found new partners to love again.
****
But I will never forget our time together ever,
you left footprints in my heart that is permanent.
Sometime one of us will send an instant message,
if only to say hello and how are you doing today?
****
Until that happens I will continue to do what I do,
write my stories, poetry and article after article.
But I don’t get upset and cry if you sign off again,
a writers first priority should be to her written work.
