SOMETHING ABOUT CHRISTMAS

There’s something about Christmas

that brings out the best in men;

seems at Christmas hearts are kinder,

reaching out to neighbor, family, friends

but once Christmas time is over

the heart reverses once again,

turns inward, burdened down by self,

caught up in worldly propaganda

seeking more prestige and greater wealth…

Caught up in the mayhem

of war, crime and tragedy,

good will is gone, no peace on Earth,

not what God meant men to be…

Man is seldom thankful for his blessings,

the good in life he’s got

and never pauses to appreciate

the gift of troubles he has not.

Seems from New Year’s Day ‘til Christmas

the world turns dark and grim

but there is something about Christmas

that brings out the best in men.

There is something about Christmas

that spreads good will that fills men’s hearts

but once the Christmas season is over

it all seems to fall apart.

Once the Christmas light has dimmed

men’s hearts lose all that hope and cheer

but wouldn’t it be wonderful

if Christmas would last all year.
