At the request of a fellow writer, I have written a poem from a prompt that is somehwhat witty. I hope you think so.
I began a frantic search
I was a grumbling grouse
I needed to find it
searching the entire house.
I started in the kitchen -
it was the obvious place
I dug through drawers and cupboards
combing every inch of space.
It was not in the kitchen
on to the room where I dine
I crawled around on the floor
on top of the buffet I climbed.
If I had a chandelier
I probably would have been swinging
searching the highest places
where a lot of dust was clinging.
Even my best dishes
were empty and dusty
I’m a lousy housekeeper
my skills are very rusty.
No point in dwelling
to the living room now
cushions went flying
I wiped sweat from my brow.
I found a few coins and
an earring I had lost
a piece of mouldy bread
and a pink slip from my boss.
Anger raged within me
frustration set in…
Where the hell was it?
Ow! I banged my shin.
I limped into the bedroom
I looked in every drawer
no longer lost and found
my search had become a war.
Filled with determination
I searched in all my clothes
my jeans and underwear
my dresses and pantyhose.
I fell onto the bed
I had to use my brain
it was hiding somewhere
I began to feel drained.
Giving up I could not do
I had come so very far
I lifted up my pillow
and found that sweet chocolate bar.
