This is a response to Mr. Langston Hughes poem Mother to Son.
Well mom
I’ll tell you
I have also faced many obstacles as thou did
Including being sick
I go to school
And I come home and have to do chores, but I have been
Walking the walk and
Talking the talk
I have faced many things
Over the years
But never once did I shed a tear
You have no idea about some of the obstacles I have faced
For we all have obstacles and challenges in which we must face
Now you can’t tell me that without a straight face
As the years and days go by
The obstacles and challenges
Got harder the more I awake
So I must tell thou I’m still going
I still have obstacles I must face
I’m still young
And I’m still going
I’m still climbing and hanging on with dear life
For I still have more obstacles and challenges with I must face
With the new people I meet
Thou can’t tell me what obstacles and challenges
I can or cannot face
