A thousand days or so had come and gone…

source

A thousand days or so had come and gone.
To wear thy wedding ring perhaps my fate.
Then as I sat here all alone in wait,
It seems the world around me moved along.
While I prepared to travel far and wide,
My prince he had grown weary of his vow,
And now my gentle heart it knows not how,
To fill that empty place so deep inside.

The man I thought a prince had turned a toad,
And though I love the toad, that’s not for me.
My heart turned to the love that music brings,
A thousand teardrops scattered in the road,
And then one day I turned around to see,
A shining gem thought lost, amidst my wings.

Awesome as always Michele; It was the toads loss to lose such a precious gem as you. Happy veterans day.
