A poem by Aardaerimus.

We ran and we played in the afternoon sun
with faces aglow as we laughed and we sung
but on the horizon a dark shadow loomed
Wherein lay dark tidings of sorrow and doom

As the sun was consumed our smiles quickly faded
Our hearts stood still and our joy dissipated
When our eyes had consumed the shadowy gloom
Wherein lay dark tidings of sorrow and doom

We lamented with tears as it swallowed the light
And we held fast together in horror and fright
As the darkness devoured our youth and our boon
Our hope failed too quickly and left us too soon

With barely a fight we gave into the night
We accepted our fate for we thought it too late
We silently wait in a tiny black room
With no silvery star and no light from the moon

The darkness inside you could scoop with a spoon
Wherein lay dark tidings of sorrow and doom

Thanks, John! I never thought of it as ‘emo’, but I appreciate your encouraging comment all the same. :-)
