Poem about self flagellation.

I’ll leave you behind

I bitterly cried

Glaring at the mirror

At a face ravaged by pain,

Bloated with frustration,

Fed with rage and despair.

But my child,

A quiet voice said,

There are no chains binding you.

Only your fear kept eyes blind

To the radiant freedom

Always within – it could not

Be chained, or die, just slumbered,

 Waiting to emerge

The walls, limits, boundaries

Are but the product of fear.

True freedom was always

Unblemished, held

Soul chainer you were only,

The visible reflection

Of me.
