I remember the joy I felt right after giving birth to my children. This poem explores that instant bond of love between mother and child as they make that first connection. Newborn babies are truly a Special Gift of Love.

Special Gift of Love

The first time I held you in my arms

I wanted to protect you

And shield you from life’s harms

Your innocent eyes drew me inside

Our two souls made connection

My heart filled up with pride

You were so perfect in every way

Unspotted by the world

If only for a day

As you lay that day upon my breast

Joy swelled my heart and I felt

So exceedingly blessed

Surely God has fashioned you with his love

Beautiful newborn baby

Special gift from above
