Poem about a dog named Spike.

Dog running wild in the clover

Catcher doing his best to strike

The pooch he dives for cover

The net came down on spike

-

Back to the pound they head

With Life an uncertainty

The driver he just sped

The kennel his penalty

-

On view for everyone to see

That young pup he just cries

Begging yearning to be free

Spike with hound dog eyes

-

Days passing one by one

No one wants a pooch like him

Until one early morn

A wanting child named Tim

-

He’s now happy and warm

Wanting for nothing at all

He’s at last at home

Loved by one and all
