A poem about being overlooked and under appreciated.
Behind the scenes
Holding the light
She can’t see me
Because it’s too bright
It’s always on her
Center stage
We’re in the same play
But on a whole different page
Don’t worry baby, Casper is here
To lend you a hand, or lend you an ear
I’ll listen to your problems time and again
Fix you up to look brand new
For all these other men
On those blurry nights
I held your hair
But you’ll never remember
That I was there
I picked you up off the floor
And tucked you into bed
But it’s the guy who crawled in with you
Who you recall instead
I know there’s a tiny blind spot
In everybody’s eye
It’s amazing how I’m always in it
And I don’t even have to try
I’m sure there are a million guys
Out there just like me
Standing right in front of you
Yet you need a microscope to see
This one goes out to them
But I hope it comes back to you
Maybe someday you’ll see me
When there’s no one to block the view
