I remember…

I remember…

Standing in the large room

awed at a young age

knowing he had been here.

Some knowledge passed

ghosts giving up secrets

as the torch was handed over.

Decades later, I stood again

a different, yet similar place

here he had killed himself.

To have and have not.

    It’s funny, until Guy started talking about it, I had all but forgotten about Hemingway’s homes. I went to the one in Key West in the early seventies and then just last year was in the house he lived in when he killed himself. And yeah Jimmy, he was a great author.
