English translation of Tagalog poem entitled Tala Sa Bodega.

English Translation…

I am s slave tied in melancholy                                                                                                                                Jailed in love, chained and endured
I am a victim who continues in dimness.
In order not to see that you’re depressed.
Storm there! Calamity here! I can grasp.
Knife that should be yours, let it arrow me.
Because I’m a veteran, skilled to be frustrated
Experienced tired of this playful world.
I am a plant that needs sprinkling water
Of rain that will be coming from your shimmering eyes
I am a grass that grows as well.
I am a book that needs to be opened.
The angel, friend and neighbor in the dark
Is me that guards your gloomy life
I am a bulb, your light on the ravine.
Will save you, won’t leave you on the seashore.
I am a fish and a bird from the wilderness.
And you are the mirror I shout in the universe!

Tagalog/Filipino version:

Tala sa Bodega

Ni: Rionel “2tet” Belen Caldo

Ako’y isang aliping nagagapos sa hinagpis,
Bilanggo sa pag – ibig, nakakadena, nagtitiis.
Ako’y isang biktimang nagpapatuloy sa dilim,
Huwag ko lang makitang ika’y naninimdim.
Unos doon! Sakuna roon! Handa kong saluhin,
Patalim na sayo’y pumana sana sa akin.

Pagkat ako’y batikan, sanay nang mabigo;

Ang anghel, kaibigan, kahanggan sa dilim;

Thanks kabayan… Indeed, my Tagalog poem “Tala Sa Bodega” is much more intense than its translation…

I wish I could read Tagalog… but the intensity of this poem is still very real. Well-done.

    Peace,
