A poem written after my first trip to Las Vegas in 2008.
As the sun sets
over the strip,
The city’s bright lights
drown out
the sunset sky
and mask the
dawn of the stars.
And those of us
who remember,
mourn the starlight
lost.
But there are those
who never knew
the glory of the night skies.
And I weep for them
who know nothing
of what they have missed.
