A.N.Trani.
Moving like a machine
Gears grinding into metal ash
I repeat the patterns as the
Patterns repeat
Isn’t it strange
How nothing ever changes here
Except the gears connecting joints
And the steel around my heart?
I used to think you were different
Stood out from the crowd
Like static in the radio
But your nuclear winter
Reminds me not to breathe too deep
Isn’t it comforting
How nothing ever changes here
Except the gears connecting walls
and the places where we start?
Heart like a machine
Pumps pump pump
And I repeat the patterns
Because the patterns are the same
Moving backwards to go forward
Don’t worry now
I’m too far gone to care
Functioning like a robot
Doomed to repeat the same routine
Don’t worry, darling
You’re not the one I blame
Patterns and machines
You are just the same.
