It never ceases to amaze me,
How life can be a pleasant surprise.
You think you’re in the depths of despair one moment.
Then happiness appears right before your eyes.

You ready to throw in the towel,
Then a beautiful smile gives you the will to fight.
You finally get used to living in darkness,
Then there comes a ray of light.

Suddenly you find yourself smiling ear to ear.
And a loving voice touches your heart.
Just when you found everything coming to an end.
You see yourself making a fresh new start.

Though the future is still a mystery,
You don’t look forward to it with dread.
You can march forward with your head held high,
And dream sweet dreams of it when you’re alone in bed.

You look at that empty spot next to you,
And you can actually picture a loving face.
That’s when you know you’ve been touched,
And your heart is in a much better place.

So this thing we call life,
Maybe it’s not such a bad thing after all.
Sometimes you gotta take the bad with the good.
But no matter what you always gotta be strong, and stand tall.
