It was always yours, from the very start.

A glutton for punishment
For every smile exchanged
Punitive damages awarded
For every embrace passionately
Staged

I beg of you
Return to me once again
Pick apart my spirit
Steal away my heart
With sticks and stones
And thievery tricks

Keep me hopeful
Puzzled and betwixt
Keep me mesmerized, troubled
And continually amiss

Perplexed, I stumble along
Following your shadow
In a befuddled daze
Desperately trying to catch
A glimpse, of your fiery gaze

Hungered for your touch
Ravished with insatiable lust
Overwhelmed with an innocent
All encompassing trust
My breath has become
Weak and labored
And my ache for you
Has grown,

Far, far too much.

Poetry calls to us with a passion. We can turn our backs on it, stay away for a while but it remains there, beckoning us, seducing us, taunting even. Your words are so real, true and vivid. Very well done! Michael

A man of my word, I said I’d look out for more. This is well paced and, most importantly passionate and heartfelt. There is nothing like a poem written with passion, either through the theme or the language and this has both. Another enjoyable read….
