Story Teller.

There is a young woman with a long tale to tell -
Her old eyes and simple words tell it well.
She has loved and known loss, she has felt anger,
Walked in worlds where she was only a stranger,
Seen more things than one man could see,
And, for no price, she will tell them to you and me.

If you see her upon a country walk
Fall in beside her and have a talk,
She has more to say than you could ever know,
Knowledge that could help you overcome a foe -
You can see it in her eyes and the way she tells her tales
That in the face of the enemy she never fails.

In the telling of her tales new ones are made to last -
For, as ever, a young man may learn from the past,
And find a way to beat a way of life and make it newm
And perhaps learn that, in the end, every tale is true -
In the darkness of her eyes have such tales been born
And whilst she speaks another tale is born with the dawn.

There is a young man with a tale to tell -
Her old eyes and simple words tell it well -
And many may never see all that she has seen
But can at least dream of what might have been.
