See my lights.

Like the stars, I see them line the way
There is a pattern, they weave and bob
Through the foliage extending gently
From above

My eyes widen to take in the view
Wonderment as if it’s all unfamiliar
And shiny brand new

Passersby continue on their way
Mill about and sometimes stop
To window shop and bargain with their weekly pay

Street performers flip, make magic, and sing
Hats sit patiently watching the show
Hopeful that the next sound will be the
Comforting melody of coins that bountifully ring

Eyes look her way at moments, some curious, some with more interest
Her thoughts turn toward the holidays, and wishes of Christmas and evergreens
Yes, it’s her favorite time of the year,
They say it’s truly the happiest day

Memories are what keep her alive
Memories that remind her of the true beauty of life
Memories that feed the child inside

Walls are thin, walls can sometimes keep secrets locked in
Blinders between a few footsteps, between a few heart beats
Separating limitless opportunities for countless vendors and patrons

She’s counting the moments again,
Counting the moments that fill her mind now
With vivid pictures of her dreams come true
Moments filled with softly loving him

Moments that keep her out of the streets wandering aimlessly for something more
Wandering watching strangers attempt to penetrate her walls
Moments that make her want nothing of her life before
Moments that only make her want to rush into his arms
And forever fall, fall, fall again for him,
Yes, now and forever, always him.
