A poem about the implications of not listening to the voice inside your head and the desires we have that are hardly ever fulfilled.
I am the voice you’ve never heard
I flow through you
And though you don’t know I’m there
I-will always be
I am the voice you’ve never heard
Never uttering what you want to hear
And so, you unknowingly dismiss me
Before I reach your lips
I am the voice you’ve never heard
But one you know is there
I am here with you now
I am everywhere
Beneath your anxiously weighted tongue
Rests the digression of your grace
As mistaken thoughts become imperative actions
And, in such events, I become your regret that waited so pretentiously to surface
I am with you each night-before the moon comes, and the sun sets
And though, I wander both heart and brain
I am always somewhere in-between
Somehow adhered to polar opposites-Like magnets.
I am the voice you’ve never heard
But one you know is there
I am here with you now
I am everywhere
I am the voice that prays with you each night
And soars when you’re asleep
I do not rest
I do not speak
And though I am not detected by your superfluous conscious
I will rest assured knowing I am infallible
Somehow at ease
By the thought of your incessant and incapable mind
And when you are laid down to rest
My voice will stay on earth
A disconcerting thought-I am you
And you never knew yourself
My words- left un-acknowledged,
though you knew exactly what they meant
I am the words you couldn’t fathom to be real, and so, you let them slip away
I am who you wanted to be, before you found out who you weren’t
And so, I am the lost piece of your dreams that you never cared to look for.
