A poem from a favorite memory of my son at the park one day.
Such a blessed sight
Seeing my son playing is enthralling
And I’m simply in a state of peace
From the words that he’s calling
“Daddy I want to slide”
“Daddy I want to climb”
Every statement with a smile
As his eyes continue to shine
Climbing to the top with a rush
Only stopping to make sure I look
He gets to the top of the slide
A perfect picture my camera took
He slides down effortlessly
My face holding much revere
His laughter as he climbs back up
Greatest sound to my ear
I limit not his time
Rather encourage him for more demonstration
Can’t get enough of how much he’s grown
And his development of education
So independent; yet trusting
Knowing his daddy is keeping watch
He’s plays freely on the monkey bars
Unquestioning if he will be caught
The aspects of fun run all through his body
And we both leave feeling fulfilled
A beautiful truth that a small park
Brings my son the biggest thrill
