Links are so handy and useful.
There is a Place For Every thing.
Links Placed When commenting on ones work
Advertising them self is Just not right.
A point of View I have is all.

I have not been here long

I don’t know about you lot

but I feel that putting a link when commenting on some ones  write

Darn Rude /

Disrespectful/

Lazy /

Inconsiderate /

Selfish /

Bad Manners /

largely Lacking in Etiquette/

Impolite Behaviour/

Such A Pompous Gesture /

Links Rude Links.

I have  be-known to  even kindly  write to them explaining plainly what one can do with their link.

There is a time and place for every thing.

Here I will Help you.

I know where you can put your link

ha ha ha ha

I know what your all thinking and your um……lol……wrong.

Dear Triond Members:

Do not put a link on my work when commenting.

If you continuing doing so you will not gain my support

I will block you.

When I remove your comment from my work

it gives me no other choice but to label you a SPAMMER.

There is a place in forums

which has been pacifically designed for your LINKS.

End of my Rant….

  • diamondpoet on Mar 16, 2010

I agree with you, our work is already splatter with advertisements, but they are paying for it, if you desire to advertise yourself in our works then please remit a check. Its rude of you to disguise your comment as a link. Thanks for writing this.

  • diamondpoet on Mar 16, 2010

I completely agree with you, our work is already splatter with advertisements, but they are paying for it, if you desire to advertise yourself in our works then please remit a check. Its rude of you to disguise your comment as a link. Thanks for writing this.

Three forbiddens. Your mother must not like me.

  • wonder on Mar 16, 2010

A place for everything, I repeat the catchword.

  • Darla Cooke on Mar 16, 2010

    Very good poem!

  • RS Wing on Mar 16, 2010

Great write. This is a shameless endeavor of some. It seems to turn people off rather than promote their work. I actually get them in the form of PM\\\’s. Like that\\\’s gonna\\\’ make me read them. Great post!

  • Starpisces on Mar 16, 2010

    agree with you.
I once read Christine’s work and find the title quite similar with my earlier post and I typed my link there just to let her know I have written an article with similar title, and after that I regretted for it and I dropped her a message to say I regretted, however, for my case it was not for advertising and luckily Christine did not felt it that way.
I dislike people commenting on people’s work just for own benefit though we are here to help one another, but not to make use of one another.
    good write Donna.

  • Moira62 on Mar 16, 2010

Donna makes a good point here…i absolutely hate spammers….and many “thumb up” our work just so the favor can be returned and therefore boost ratings i would prefer one honest opinion on my work than a thousand false ones ….

  • Pete Marshall on Mar 16, 2010

adding a link is a pre-ordained comment and has no bearing on the piece itself. I want comments to be about whats been written then I know its been read, digested etc.

  • Atanacio on Mar 16, 2010

oh you don’t want a link huh Franksthebest.com HA!

  • Katien on Mar 16, 2010

If someone leaves me a link I will never read anything by them again. It is horrible to know that someone has left a comment for the sole purpose of advertising themselves.

  • Brenda Nelson on Mar 16, 2010

I always delete SPAM comments, however if I feel a link is fitting I will post it. As such I read about a persons dog dying of diabetis, the person was mad at the vet for not diagnosing sooner. I added a link there to point out that diabetis is often caused by feeding certain foods to dogs. Although ALL Dog food says it is good.. most are not..
However I do not post random links in attempt to get views.. and hate this.

  • Vikram Chhabra on Mar 16, 2010

I know what you mean and agree with you wholeheartedly!!

  • mo hoyal on Mar 16, 2010

I agree, I don’t like people doing this on my comment pages and also how they try to promote themselves when they should be encouraging the writer in a nice comment!
    Stay sweet! Me doin’ betta!

  • standingproud on Mar 16, 2010

Um 4sure some links are of benefit.
Just not advertising one self on my page is what I am referring to :)

  • Mickey Pig Knuckles on Mar 16, 2010

You go girl, One can clearly see that this inappropriate behavior is not acceptable nor respected. We should encourage and suggest improvements while complimenting the author during our comment. If I should have a desire to look something up or search for a link I can do fine on my own as far as finding what
I’m looking for. Thank You Standingproud for a reality share…

  • Peter Cimino on Mar 16, 2010

Wow… I didn’t even know anyone did this. That is beyond rude! I agree with you! So that means these people really only care about promoting their own work. Very nice….NOT!

  • Lord Banks on Mar 16, 2010

I have and do suffer with this problem people who do not even comment on your work they just cut and paste a link to their work! Their theory is everyone on Triond is in it for the money so if they click on your work but dont read it you will do the same! Absolute shamless rubbish dont even go there just delete them as they turn up its like shooting targets at a carnival! LB

  • krrymarie on Mar 16, 2010

I haven’t had this happen to me yet but if i do i will delete then send the person a polite message lol!!!

  • Val Mills on Mar 16, 2010

Good for you. I delete a comment if I think the link is self promotion and remove that person from my friends list if they are there. Plus never read that person again. My list is not long. I also get annoyed when I receive a whole lot of messages with links from people I have not heard of before.

  • bailieman on Mar 16, 2010

I agree with you. This is also happening when people send in Friend requests.

  • clay hurtubise on Mar 16, 2010

As I’m now an infrequent visitor to Triond, I’m lucky that I’ve haven’t had to deal with it. Agree with your stance 100%
    Thanks,
    Clay

  • Christine Ramsay on Mar 16, 2010

Thanks for standing up for what many of us feel but do nothing about. I tend to ignore links though I don’t mind the odd one from a friend. A very good rant.

    Christine

  • Mark Gordon Brown on Mar 16, 2010

If they are appropriate that is one thing that I don’t mind and have encouraged it on some of my articles. Ones that are not appropriate I promptly delete. I do think you have expressed something that many of us feel.

  • Judy Kaelin on Mar 16, 2010

Very well said, thanks for a good article.

  • giftarist on Mar 16, 2010

I agree with you – very much..

  • 8Shei8 on Mar 16, 2010

    Good points made Donna =)

  • Aaron Paul Hicks on Mar 16, 2010

I agree totally with you here, another thing thats really starting to boil me is endless links being sent to my inbox saying follow me here or read my work or one thing and another! if i want to read a piece of work i will and dont like to be forced into it lol, oh i do love a good rant too lol,
    take care,
    Aaron x

  • deep blue on Mar 16, 2010

I’d rather be the missing link. That was timely, Donna.

  • SharifaMcFarlane on Mar 16, 2010

I like links which are appropriate!

  • SharifaMcFarlane on Mar 16, 2010

Some links add to the conversation by providing relevant information and when that is done, I appreciate it.

  • yes me on Mar 16, 2010

    Yes well said, and Timely

  • Paul Roberts on Mar 16, 2010

Though you have not been here long, you have shown a positive stand. keep it up. Friend, fan, smile

  • Shirley Shuler on Mar 16, 2010

I couldn’t agree with you more, Donna. There’s a place for everything and everything in its place.

  • Inna Tysoe on Mar 16, 2010

I try to delete spam too.

  • Mike1229 on Mar 17, 2010

splatter of people advocating their own stuff = agreed. totaly unacceptable.

If it’s pertinent to the conversation at hand, go ahead and link me.

    very well put

  • sambhafusia on Mar 17, 2010

    Great share..keep work on dear..

  • qasimdharamsy on Mar 17, 2010

    very nice one…..

  • Melody SJAL on Mar 18, 2010

    I do agree…very nicely expressed.

  • papaleng on Mar 18, 2010

you express the sentiments of the majority, though I may say there are some beneficial links. Another rude thing that annoyed me is those people who send you message asking to read their linked works. So rude..

  • fishfry aka Elizabeth Figueroa on Mar 19, 2010

I completely agree, you said what many have ignored for quite a while
    You go ……………….

  • Shamyl on Mar 19, 2010

    useful and well presented.

  • CA Johnson on Mar 19, 2010

I really liked your poem. While I am commenting on articles, I have seen some links like that in other people’s articles. I also think that is really rude.

  • Hepsi.M on Mar 20, 2010

awesome shout-out on links Donna..great write..and I hope the links to be gone now.

  • Alive11 on Mar 20, 2010

    Very Brilliant Write

  • Frances Lawrence on Mar 21, 2010

I agree with you, but I think on rare occasions it is ok to add a link if it has direct relevance to what you are reading. Sometimes when reading poetry I will leave an apreciative comment and an external link to a well known poet who has written on a similar subject or in a similar style. This is not to self publicise it is to add to the discussion and show appreciation of the work I have just read.

  • zoeyclark on Mar 21, 2010

Linking is not bad if it is related. I was commenting on an IMDB message board the other day and the post was about Jon Bon Jovi. One of the posters had put a link to a lengthy article about Jon and being an avid fan, I happily clicked and read it. I hate linking when it has nothing to do with the post.

  • lillyrose on Mar 29, 2010

hahah… I like and I think we all got the idea xxxx
