Whew! Heat index predicted to be 110 degrees Fahrenheit.

Summer Sun,
Afternoon.

The leaves hang limb
Without a single breeze.
Every thing that can
Has found a cool place,
Thank goodness
For big old, green trees.

Kids take a dip
In a big wading pool
Cats find
A quiet place to lay
Puppy gets all wet,
Even little birds
Try to find a place
To keep themselves cool.

Summer Sun,
Afternoon.

Green beans
Someday peas–
Lettuce a little
Just a little bit..
Past its prime.
Water garden now
Surely not a plan–
Less you wanna
Cook it on the vine!

Lovely poem, Daisy. The temperature had never reached 100F here in the UK until six years ago and that was only in the area where I live!
Even if the much vaunted global warming arrives, the Met Office predict that summer temperatures in the UK will only peak at 104F.

Wow! I can’t imagine living in temperatures that high. We are in the seventies in southern England at the moment and that feel hot.
    A wonderful poem.
