This is a poem I wrote…
Summer time has come
Bringing the chirp of a bull frog
To cradle you to sleep at night.
The crickets work in melody
To sing you to sleep.
Run out at midnight
And catch lightning bugs on your fingers.
Watch them glow
And feel the tickle of their tiny feet.
The park is open
Where children swing and play-
Laughter fills the air.
Not a smile is missed today.
A campfire brings all the memories
With songs and secrets.
Roasting the perfect marshmallow
For that one little s’more.
When the fire dies out,
We all stay around anyway-
We don’t want to go to bed
So we just talk all night long.
Without much warning,
A thunderstorm might come.
Put on your dresses and tuxes
And girls put flowers in their hair.
We dance to the beat of thunder and rain-
Splash in puddles-
Sing a song.
Summer is unforgettable
Something none can sustain.
The memories last forever
And never will you have a better day…
Until next summer.
