Only a couple weeks to go and it will once more be fall in New England.

The summer fun is almost over,

where on earth did it go so fast?

I wanted just a bit more time,

I wanted it to last.

I hate the snow and winter cold,

maybe because I myself am getting old.

The beach, the sun, the warmth Ill miss,

please don’t go away I am in such bliss.

You kiss my check with your summer sun,

outside I go to play to run.

Soon all of this will be over,

No more rolling in the field of clover.

Cold and snow and dread I see,

waiting for summer once more I’ll be.

Another Holiday Without You

The Cold

I know how you feel. Hopefully we in the south of England should have another month or so, but I am not looking forward to the winter at all. It is the short days that I hate more than the cold.
    I enjoyed the poem.

Lovely poem, I so agree with you Linda, we’ve not had a summer here yet. I can’t believe it will be September soon!

Linda, I hate that summer is nearly over as much as you. I dread the cold wind whistleing around me. I love hot sunny days.

Great poem – the demise of summer is always sad but aren’t the colours in fall in new England something to behold and look forward too?

  • lindalulu on Aug 20, 2009

@Julianhw yes the colors are fall are beautiful here but with those colors we all know that cold winter winds and deep snow banks will be coming shortly.

I know how you feel, I no longer like the winter either, but I’m hoping for another month of good weather. Your poem is beautiful.

    Beautiful!

    Reminds my The Doors song

    “…Morning found us calmly unaware,
Noon burned gold into our hair,
At night we swam at laughin’ sea
When summer’s gone, where will we be?
    Where will we be?
    Where will we be?..”

I am sorry but i am thinking with song many times :)

    Thanks,
    Chris
