Sun erupts, Earth blown

Sun Fire erupted in a visible image captured by NASA cameras. Fortunately, scientists ensure the events will have minimal impact, if any, on Earth.

Wildfire has reached its peak on Tuesday (7 / 6) morning and created a huge cloud that covered nearly half the surface of the sun.

A cloud of charged particles erupting from the outer solar atmosphere and is expected to pass Earth on Wednesday (8 / 6) night or Thursday (9 / 6) morning local time. According to the National Weather Service Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC) in Boulder, Colorado, this will cause little disruption to the Earth’s magnetic field.

“That’s not a big event,” said Michael Hesse, chief of space weather laboratory at Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. “It’s spectacular to watch, but not great in terms of danger to Earth.”

Joe Kunches, a space scientist at SWPC, asserted that the worst of all, the cloud that erupted from the sun can cause a brief interruption to the high frequency radio communications, especially the areas closer to the north and south poles. A number of global positioning devices can also make a small mistake.

“It does not look like will be a direct blow to the Earth,” said Kunches. “But this will, if you use a baseball analogy, a little low and off the field.”

Aurora borealis may also appear on Thursday or Friday night. “The sun has awakened and become more active until close to the expected peak occurred in 2013,” said Hesse.
