Walking therapy.

I love to take long walks this time of year

It is true that I love to walk period

Walking clears the mind and heals the soul

The longer I walk the warmer I become

and the wind against my face has a metamorphosing

effect

I am sure in Wisconsin this wouldn’t work

but

Here in California it works exceedingly well

With every step I take something magical happens

I think in Zen like terms and before you know it

Where ever I am heading to seems less important

I make a point of saying hello to everyone I pass

Whether they realize I am passing them by or not

I smile and I wave without changing my gate or pace

Sometimes I employ a soundtrack

Sure to make the song playing have a rhythm that matches

my footsteps

I miss West Los Angeles in that most of my stomping grounds were

relatively flat and easily  traversed

I was known to walk 8-12 miles without thinking about it

Here in O.C., there are many hills and cul-de-sacs

Designed to give the impression of exclusivity

Folks around here see walking as a symbol of poverty

Instead of personal freedom and choice

Sad really

Still I enjoy my walks and will continue to do so until

my legs no longer cooperate

nothing quite as refreshing as a nice walk, especially when you are in familiar neighbourhood with familiar faces.

I like walking, too. This spring and summer, I pan to walk 8 blocks to and from the library every day just to be in the atmosphere and be with the librarian who loves me. She loves me so much she went to daddy’s funeral home viewing.

Walking is also good for the health.

Walking is an awesome exercise not only physically, but like you said it is medicine for the soul. (not with the same exact words, but you know what I mean). I encourage you to keep walking regularly and saying hello to everyone even if they don’t respond.

Really cool article some people are just not polite but as long as you keep being your self god sees your kind acts he will always pat you on the back. Walks are extreemly helpful to me as well. Sad how some people see walking as poor but , their health will be & their hearts wont be as healthy as ours.
