Then you began mimicking me

Kissing the milkman

You made a fool of me

I know I shouldn’t have gotten

You as a pet since I’ve

Some secrets of the heart to hide 

But you’re so beautiful and brilliant

As a tropical and sub-tropical bird

That one time

Roamed aimlessly in the wild

Of the Amazon Basin

That I couldn’t resist 

Getting you

You’re from the family of cockatoos

Macaws and parakeets

I bought you from an exotic pet store

But never thought 

You’d be such a snitch

- – - 

Do I not clean your cage

Feed you with expensive bird seeds

And fruits

Fill your water bowl

And  allow you to fly around

Our home to spread

Your wings?

Now you’re using the F word

I can’t stand it

Although I know you’ve

No sense of what these things mean

They are not funny

You’ve gotten me in enough trouble
