Facts about tea.

Did you know in ancient times

Tea was used as money

And blueberry scones make a tasty treat

With little pats of butter and honey

High tea isn’t exactly what you think

It’s for commoners and peasantry

Midday gatherings for the elite

Is better known as afternoon tea

“Not for all the tea in China”

Is an expression that we say

The British are best know

For drinking eight cups of tea a day

Buddist priests perform tea ceremonies

To enhance their religious muse

Herbal teas are a the peak of flavor

When the leaves have been infused

“The Boston Tea Party” was not a party

But a protest against the king

A boycott against high taxation

And the British government regime

Not including herbal

There are 3,000 species of tea

A wide variety to choose from

As different as you and me

Tea is important to art

Important to society

Important to our literature

Important to history
