Teach Me How to Listen

It is listening, more than talking, that stimulates the mind.

I seem always to be the one that’s talking
I rarely pause to hear the thoughts of others
I listen to myself more than I do to them
And that lack makes me a very lonely man

It is easy to become the life of any party
A repertoire of jokes is all that’s needed
But there is no exchange of thought in that
No back and forth of interesting ideas

It is listening that most stimulates the mind
That opens the mind’s spigot to ideas flowing
That expands our minds and makes us happy
And that is what conversation does for us

Please, someone, teach me how to listen
I need the happiness of another’s thinking
I need that back and forth of conversation
I need desperately to rejuvenate my mind

yes listening stimulates the mind for u can get to know more ideas abt what others think of….so stop speaking fo sometime and be a good listener.. dat gives happiness to the speaker also..

That was an AWESOME poem SP! I feel the same way, that i need to listen to others rather than talk all the time. I think i have a habit of interrupting.
