A poem to teachers appreciating their work.

The day begins so early
And ends ever so late
You achieve so much with your kids
Who become your own

Teach us how to be
Teach us how to see
Stand upon that shiny board
With those aesthetic strokes
That make us erudite

You have endured the low pay
You, with your arduous work
Some getting up as the sun shines
It’s first golden rays far off
Eradiate the start of your day

Oh how hard you work
Sinking ravenously in a pile of work to grade
When you get home
Planning a lesson for the next day
What will I write on the board?

Some with no names
New names, new faces
Every summer
A good bye
Every fall
It starts again
